fired a shot at a Union transport off Newport News

lightning with heavy rain & thick foggy weather

From Meridian to 4 P.M.  Light airs from N.W. and pleasant  

heavy firing in direction ofYorktown

From 4 to 6 P.M  Light airs and fine weather

From 6 to 8 P.M  Light airs. At 7.30 P.M wind veered in a squall

to N.N.W.

From 8 PM to Midnight  Fresh breeze from the Northward with rain 

at 11 P.M moderated and cleared off.  Fine wind from north light…
