Sculptors Elaine Viel and Elizabeth Mead, will discuss the outdoor sculptures that accompany the exhibition Message in a Bottle. Viel’s sculpture New Catch 2020 symbolizes “both the massive number of bottles discarded yearly, and my vision that these bottles might indeed, become the New Catch in the not so distant future.” Mead served as an advisor to William & Mary students who created and installed seven additional sculptures on the grounds of the Museum. Following the lecture, the artists will lead a tour to view the sculptures.
