The Baltimore Album Quilt is a unique textile art form with historical ties to the maritime world. Join educators Lauren Furey and Wisteria Perry as they teach us how to create our own piece of history. Classroom time will be divided between discussing the origins of true Baltimore Album Quilts, virtually examining the BAQ in The Mariners’ Museum collection, several antique and modern day examples of fabrics, as well as learning how to make successful design choices when choosing and pairing fabrics and patterns. We will also work slowly through the techniques of creating a block based on one of the blocks in the quilt from the Museum’s collection. At the end of the workshop, you will have a block well on its way to completion. Ideas and inspiration will be given on how to complete the project on your own!
Please bring a pair of fabric scissors. All other supplies are included with the workshop fee.
