Analyze various aspects of the Civil War by examining such topics as the events that led to war, the role of the ironclads, and the impact of the war on the battlefront, the home front, and in the slave quarters.

Discuss the factors and changes that have contributed to its decline. We will examine the various plants, animals and other organisms that live in and around the Bay. The workshop concludes with a discussion of the changes we can make in our daily lives to improve the health of the Chesapeake Bay, or any other watershed in which we may live.

Less than 5% of the world’s oceans have been explored, 70% of our Earth’s surface is covered by ocean. What kind of mysteries lay beneath the waves? What creatures inhabit the depths? How do we explore it? Why should we explore it? This professional development course will focus on the extreme deep ocean, our exploration of it thus far, the accomplishments of deep sea scientists, and the most famous ship to rest on the ocean floor, the RMS Titanic.

The cost is $55 per workshop per day. The price includes the workshop, teaching materials, lunch and admission to The Mariners’ Museum.
