Volunteer to Help Clean Up the Park

Volunteer for Mariners' Museum Park Spring Clean-up, April 28, 2012

On Saturday, April 28, The Mariners’ Museum Park will host its Spring 2012 Clean-Up event from 8 a.m. - NOON. The Spring Clean-up is a key component in the maintenance of The Mariners’ Museum’s 500-acre park. In a morning, dozens of volunteers can tackle projects that the Museum’s grounds staff may not be able to manage otherwise.

  • Work tools provided. Bring your own gloves and water bottle.
  • Wear boots—preferably—or tennis shoes.
  • Food and beverages provided.
  • An event T-shirt is provided.

Tasks typically include the following: Cleaning trench drains and removing deadfall from the Noland Trail; beach and shoreline clean-up; and spreading mulch or wood chips. Specific jobs will be assigned at the registration table on the day of the event. Volunteers gather for registration at 7:45 a.m. at the table located between the Museum’s front entrance and its education building.

Volunteers should be 18 or older, unless accompanied by an adult. They should be able to lift 20 to 25 pounds, and be fit for outdoor work. Free food and drinks will be provided after the work session.
