The Mariners' Museum posts job openings in-house, in local newspapers, the local office of Virginia Employment Commission, in museum trade publications and on designated internet sites.

The Mariners' Museum offers paid vacations, sick leave and holiday pay to all regular full-time staff. The amount of the vacation to which an employee is entitled depends upon two factors: length of service from anniversary date and level of position.
