Oyster Roast at The Mariners’ Museum Saturday, October 17, 2009
Newport News, Va.-- The Bronze Door Society will present the 4th Annual Oyster Roast on the grounds of The Mariners’ Museum beginning at 4 P.M. on Saturday, October 17, 2009. This popular event features boat rides on Lake Maury and an all-you-can-eat seafood and BBQ buffet. Guests are invited to dance the night away with music provided by the popular band Brother Lucy. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Tickets are $40 in advance or $50 at the door; $10 for children 12 and under. Proceeds will benefit the Bronze Door Society, an active group of Museum members who support the Museum’s mission and programs by funding acquisition, conservation, management, and exhibition of artifacts and works of art. The Mariners' Museum, an educational, non-profit institution accredited by the American Association of Museums, preserves and interprets maritime history through an international collection of ship models, figureheads, paintings and other maritime artifacts. The museum is open from 10 A.M. until 5 P.M. Monday through Saturday, and 12 to 5 P.M. Sunday. It will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
