World Sailing Champion Gary Jobson Shares His Passion for Speed at The Mariners’ Museum on January 21
Newport News, Va. - (December 2009)-- Gary Jobson, world-class sailor, television commentator, editor and author, will share his passion for sailing during a presentation at The Mariners’ Museum on January 21, at 7:30 p.m.

The presentation, Sailing: Speed and Passion An Evening with Gary Jobson, provides a glimpse into the life of one of the world’s most famous sailor, and he will preview Alinghi V and BMW Oracle, which will be contending for the America's Cup in Valencia, Spain, February 8 - 10, 2010.

Jobson has won many championships in one design classes, the America’s Cup with Ted Turner in 1977, the infamous Fastnet Race and many of the world’s ocean races. He has been ESPN’s sailing commentator since 1985, has written 16 sailing books and is editor at large of Sailing World and Cruising World magazines. In 1999 Jobson won the Nathanael G. Herreshoff Trophy, US SAILING's most prestigious award. This trophy is awarded annually to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the sport of sailing in the United States. Recently, Jobson was elected president of US SAILING. Jobson is also the national chairman of The Leukemia Cup Regatta, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s sailing program.

The doors open at 6:30 P.M., and admission includes a light reception following the lecture at 7:30 P.M. Tickets are $20 for the general public, and $15 for Museum members.
