Of Numbers and Stars
Written by D. Anne Love
Illustrated by Pam Paparone
Hypatia grew up on the northern tip of Egypt in the city of Alexandria in the fourth century A.D. As the daughter of mathematician Theon, Hypatia was unlike most girls of her time as she learned to read and write. As she grew older, she became a respected scholar in mathematics and philosophy in which scholars from all over the world journeyed to Alexandria to seek her teachings.
