The Mariners’ Park Café / Open to the Public
Visit the Museum on Friday afternoon to enjoy lunch in the Mariners’ Park Café and stimulating Civil War discussion with renowned historian, John Quarstein. There is no charge to participate. Lunch will be available for purchase at the café!
The Battle of Stones River was fought from December 31, 1862 to January 2, 1863. Confederate General Braxton Bragg attempted to destroy the Union army, commanded by Gen. William S. Rosecrans, near Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Despite sending several major assaults against the Federal army, the Confederates were forced to retreat. As a result, Bragg lost the confidence of his army.
