This is a lecture series presented by The Mariners’ Museum and Park staff. Go behind the scenes of the Museum and explore our collection while learning about the work the staff does.


USS Monitor‘s Dahlgren shell guns were recovered inside the revolving gun turret in 2002 and have been undergoing documentation, conservation, and study ever since. This lecture will describe the unique and important place Monitor‘s guns hold in the history of naval artillery, as well as the challenges presented by their conservation and future display.
