The History of Grog

Join us as we delve into the story of grog in the U.S. Navy.

Food historian Eric Jeanneret will explore the tradition of the grog ration, the transition from rum- to whiskey-based grog in the early 19th century, and more. We’ll complete the event with a tasting from Williamsburg Distillery and Ironclad Distillery to determine what makes the best base for grog – whiskey or rum.

Free with admission; $5 to participate in tasting

This event is open to all ages, but the grog tasting is restricted to those 21 and older.
