USS Monitor Conservation
Be a part of history!
The Mariners’ is the proud caretaker of 200 tons of artifacts recovered from the wreck of USS Monitor, including her gun turret, Dahlgren guns, steam engine, and more. The Batten Conservation Complex houses our conservation team and the Monitor project, the world’s largest marine metals conservation project. Support the conservation of the 160 year old ironclad!
Library and Archives
Bring history to life!
The Mariners’ Library and Archives is home to more than two million items, including books, manuscripts, maps and charts, newspapers, photographs, and archives, making it the largest maritime history collection in the Western Hemisphere. The Library team supports a range of research requests from across the globe. Help us provide access to and preserve these crucial resources!
