In June 2011, Matt Rutherford of Annapolis, MD, began an ambitious voyage. In a small sailing vessel, Rutherford intends to circumnavigate the American continents, a voyage of some 23,000 nautical miles, solo. He is currently in the southern Atlantic Ocean, sailing north.
