Summer Programs

Summer Fun With a Maritime Twist!

There is a lot to do at The Mariners’ during the summer! Whether you take your students on a field trip or we come to your site, just leave the work to us! We’ll provide the stories, artifacts, crafts, FUN and more – you provide the kids! They’ll have a blast (and learn something too) during one of our engaging summer programs. View the options below!

Maritime Storytime

Grade level: Pre K – 2nd
Duration: 30 – 45 minutes

Experience this program at the Museum or at your location.

Geared towards younger audiences, Maritime Storytime explores the depths of maritime-related stories through print and craft; Whether exploring the depths with merpeople or flying the Jolly Roger with a band of pirates, this program will help kids live out their wildest imagination.

Choose from these popular themes: nature, pirates, mermaids, cultures, and the ocean. 

Monsters and Mermaids

Grade level: K – 5th
Duration: 1 hour

Experience this program at the Museum, at your location, or virtually. 

For many generations, people around the world have wondered what lurks below the surface of the water. Students will dive into the depths of ocean lore from Loch Ness to Atlantis in this magical program. Prepare to be mystified by the stories of sea monsters and mermaids that have been told by sailors for generations.

A Trip Around the World

Grade level: K – 5th
Duration: 1 hour

In this interactive program, students will feel like world explorers as they learn about the unique aspects of each continent. Art, music, popular culture, and wildlife are all featured to show all that our diverse world has to offer. From the Grand Canyon to Serengetti, across vast oceans and flowing rivers, students will be mesmerized by the world’s wonders. 

Pirates: Fact or Fiction?

Grade Level: 2nd – 6th
Duration: 1 hour

Ahoy, matey! You may know the legends of Jack Sparrow and Blackbeard, but have you ever wondered if pirates actually walked and talked like they do in movies? Did they really search for buried treasure and make their enemies walk the plank? In this program, we will discuss the facts and fiction of pirates of the past and present.

Sailing Under the Stars: A Global Phenomenon

Grade level: 2nd – 5th grade
Duration: 1 hour

Experience this program at the Museum, at your location, or virtually. 

Have you ever wondered about the stars in the night sky? What is a constellation? What shapes do they take? How were they helpful to sailors? These questions and more will be answered. Plus, students will test their navigational skills with an interactive activity to find the most important star – the north star. Come travel the world with us to learn about the cultures that relied on the stars to find their way across the globe.

Titanic

Grade level: 2nd – 7th
Duration: 1 hour

Experience this program at the Museum, at your location, or virtually. 

Over 100 years ago, the Titanic embarked on a doomed voyage across the Atlantic. Since its demise, people have been intrigued by the tragedy and shock of this historical event which is why it has been sensationalized by popular media. Learn about the excitement leading up to this voyage and the sinking of what was supposed to be unsinkable.

Pricing

The cost is $4.50 per student. We suggest one adult for every five students. Suggested adults will receive free admission and additional adults will be asked to pay general admission.
