Duration: 45 minutes
A small ship, a difficult Atlantic crossing, and the meeting of two cultures set the stage for this exploration of the Thanksgiving story. Students will investigate life aboard the Mayflower and the experiences of the Pilgrims and Wampanoag people through discussion, storytelling, and a creative activity.
Life Aboard the Mayflower
Students will explore life on board the Mayflower and its journey across the Atlantic.
Pilgrims, Wampanoag, and the First Thanksgiving
Students will explore the Pilgrims and their life in America, what inspired them to celebrate the first Thanksgiving, and how the Wampanoag people were essential to their survival.
Create a Story Bracelet
Students will have an opportunity to make a story bracelet inspired by Wampanoag wampum belts so they will be able to tell others about the Thanksgiving story.
Through historical discussion and creative storytelling, students will strengthen listening, communication, and cultural understanding while making thoughtful connections to the experiences of the Pilgrims and Wampanoag people.

Learning Objectives
Students will:
- Students will name the two groups of people who participated in the first Thanksgiving (Wampanoag & Pilgrims).
- Students will practice cultural competency by naming at least one Wampanoag tradition.
- Students will name at least two items that pilgrims packed on their journey to the New World.
- Students will identify at least one way the Wampanoag helped the Pilgrims survive in the New World.
- Students will explore their likes and dislikes by completing a bracelet that tells the story of the first Thanksgiving.

Pricing:
Payment can be made before the program, or we can invoice following your program.
- Programs at the Museum are $4.50 per student.
All adults accompanying a field trip are free. - Programs at your location are $4.50 per student.
- Virtual education programs are $125 per program.
Reservations are required for all programs and are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. Programs fill quickly in the fall and spring, so make your reservations a minimum of two weeks in advance.
