How adventurous are you? Would you dare to cross an enormous ocean without knowing what lies ahead? European explorers did just that. In this hands-on program, students will learn about European exploration, the trade that happened between Europe and the Americas, and the three types of resources. Museum educators will guide discussions about European exploration, including the motivations behind it and the exchanges between different continents. During the program, students will be introduced to primary source analysis and geography.
In the galleries, students will learn about early navigation by learning to read and use a compass. Students will also have a chance to practice their geography skills by playing a trade game and learning more about the three ships that Columbus used to cross the Atlantic Ocean.
