When in Rome, explore like a historian! Students will investigate the geography, ships, art, architecture, and government of Ancient Rome through Museum collection objects, discussion, and a creative mosaic activity that connects the ancient city to the world students know today.
Explore Rome’s Geography
Students will explore the geography of Rome and learn about this fascinating ancient city in the heart of Italy.
Examine Roman Ships and Society
Students will examine various Roman ships from our Museum’s collection and delve into the art, architecture, and government of this ancient civilization.
By examining ships, discussing civic life, and creating a mosaic of their own, students will strengthen their observation skills and cultural understanding while making lively connections between Ancient Rome and the modern world.
Most of our virtual education programs are scheduled through ZOOM Cloud-based video conferencing. ZOOM is free to use and requires minimal equipment. For more information, please visit: https://zoom.us/
Learning Objectives
- Students will locate ancient Rome on a map of the world.
- Students will demonstrate citizenship skills by connecting our government with ancient Rome’s government.
- Students will engage in career exploration by discussing at least three distinguishing characteristics of Roman art and architecture.

Pricing:
Payment can be made before the program, or we can invoice following your program.
- Programs at the Museum are $4.50 per student.
All adults accompanying a field trip are free. - Programs at your location are $4.50 per student.
- Virtual education programs are $125 per program.
Reservations are required for all programs and are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. Programs fill quickly in the fall and spring, so make your reservations a minimum of two weeks in advance.
