Navigation Lantern, USS Monitor (January 30-December 31, 1862), Recovered in 1977. This lantern was discovered lying in the sand near USS Monitor’s turret.
AKA Andrew Dougherty’s Army & Navy playing cards. The cards have images of the USS Monitor & CSS Virginia and sailors on them. A. (Andrew) Dougherty Manufacturer, 1865. Division of United States Playing Card Company.
Monitor Engine Register 1862
Yankee Skiff, late 19th century, York River, VA. This small craft was transplanted from around New York to the Chesapeake Bay and the James and York Rivers because it was a good boat for tonging oysters.
